On April 1, Bear Mountain will be hosting the Russ Hay's XC SHORT TRACK as part of the BC Premier Cycling Series. SHORT TRACK is a short, dynamic race for about 30 minutes. This discipline was introduced as an official UCI race category with a great success in Europe and USA. The race is held on a shorter and simpler 1.5 km circuit with fewer amount of terrain obstacles, which naturally pushes the riders to ride in a group. Point scoring bonuses or prize money during each passage of the finish area provide a hard fight on the finish line of each circuit and also a great show for spectators.

"Today's news that the race has been changed to a Provincial Sanctioned event will not diminish the race quality and will provide racers and spectators with high quality racing action." Says race Director Jon Watkin. "Racers of all abilities will have a blast with this new format."

Race categories will include beginner, intermediate, expert, youth, and masters categories.
